St. Peter the Apostle’s Youth Ministry is designed to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community; and, to foster the total person (body, mind and spirit) and the spiritual growth of each young person. The comprehensive framework of Youth Ministry is designed to:

  • Utilize each of the Church’s ministries (advocacy, catechism, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer and worship) in an integrated approach to achieve the three goals for ministry with teens
  • Provide developmentally appropriate programs and activities to promote personal and spiritual growth for younger and older teens
  • Enrich family life by promoting the growth of faith in teens and family members
  • Incorporate young people fully into all aspects of church life and engage them in ministry and leadership in the faith community
  • Create partnerships among families, schools, churches and community organizations in a common effort to promote positive youth development

Youth Ministry Coordinating Team (Youth Council)

This team is a group of teens and adults in the parish who view and plan for the overall Youth Ministry. Together with the Youth Minister, they organize the ministry and work to connect all the pieces. Typically, the team may consist of 8-15 leaders, half adults and the other half teens.

Youth Ministry Adult Board

This team is a group of adults from the parish who plan and evaluate Youth Ministry from a total body, mind and spiritual perspective. These adults help to organize and connect all the pieces as they mentor the teens into leadership roles. In collaboration with the Pastor, these Adult Leaders work with the Program Leaders and volunteers for the respective areas of spiritual, service and social activities.
