Parish Reopening Plan and Call for Volunteers

Volunteers are needed to assist with various aspects of our parish reopening plan.
Importantly, leadership team members and volunteers must not be part of a “vulnerable population” (i.e., suffering from an underlying medical condition such as diabetes or lung disease; undergoing cancer treatment, etc.). Those over the age of 60 should consult with the Parish Leadership Team about possibly serving as a volunteer. Those under the age of 60, who are healthy with no underlying health conditions are asked to consider assisting with one of three reopening teams. Religious Education families, high school and college students,
as well as young adults, are especially encouraged to answer this call to volunteer for teams.

Specifically, here are the three teams being formed:

  • Set-up team. Sample duties include ensuring that all supplies needed for each sacramental celebration/gathering are ready for use, entrances and exits are marked and propped physically open prior to attendees’ arrival/departure, etc.

  • Greeting team. Sample duties include assisting in managing the flow of congregants as
they enter the church, keeping attendance to 10 people or less at all times, making sure attendees use hand sanitizer upon entering, are wearing a mask, and are reminded not to enter if ill; directing people to appropriate seating/waiting areas, etc.

  • Cleaning team. Sample duties include maintaining and cleaning essential and trafficked areas of the church before and after the church has been used. Masks and gloves will be provided if you do not have your own. All approved cleaning/disinfecting supplies will be provided.

In accordance with current Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance, fully-e individuals can participate in indoor and outdoor activities, large or small, without wearing a mask or physical distancing. (“fully-vaccinated” refers to people who are two weeks past their last required COVID-19 vaccine dose.) Individuals who have not been vaccinated should continue to wear masks.

The 10:00 am weekend mass will remain a "Safe" mass for those who still prefer to adhere to safety protocols. Alternate row seating will be in place; masks and hand sanitizer will be optional.

- REVISED -
COVID-19 Protocols
Guidelines for Mass Attendance and Parish Activities

(as of August 19, 2021)

The progress of the COVID‑19 pandemic in Illinois remains unpredictable. The Diocese of Joliet continues to consult with public health, education, and civil authorities and modify requirements as conditions, mandates, and guidance change. We are committed to providing an integrated, safe, responsible, and balanced perspective. Faithful citizenship is key. We expect individuals to take personal responsibility for the common good, and their own safety. Remember that taking every precaution to reduce the spread of the virus is an act of charity toward others in Christ, particularly toward the sick, the elderly, and those too young to receive vaccine protection.

The Diocese of Joliet will follow Illinois public health guidelines and offers. Click on the link below for details for church services and activities effective August 19, 2021:
